Forschungsprojekt ::
Die Globalisierung der Weinproduktion und ihre Auswirkungen auf die globale Vernetzung ländlicher Regionen

Projektbeschreibung

John Overton is a geographer at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, having previously held positions elsewhere in New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. He currently holds the position of Professor of Development Studies. He has studied the wine industry in New Zealand, South America and South Africa for over twenty years. His particular interests in the geography of wine relate to the making of place-brands and the way this ties to industrial structure. He has worked also on the way new wine regions have formed alongside the restructuring of established wine-producing regions, resulting in an increasingly complex global wine industry marked by both intense competition in established and emerging wine markets and innovative strategies for product differentiation. John also conducts research on international aid and development, with a particular focus on the Pacific Islands, and has recently published a book on the subject Aid, Ownership and Development (Routledge 2018).
