Dieses Projekt ist Teil des Forschungsprojektes Sicherheit und Privatheit im öffentlichen Raum
Projektbeschreibung
The analysis of fear of crime has been dominated by mainly three rival approaches, namely the victimization perspective, the disorder perspective and the disintegration perspective. However, a major shortcoming of many empirical studies so far was the measurement of fear of crime and feelings of insecurity. Against this background, the present study starts from a conceptualization of fear of crime which borrows from Agamben’s (1995) state of exception and investigates this within the framework of a space-related approach. The study is based on a mail survey of a sample (SRS) of adult inhabitants of a German City (N=620). Results show that the measures of fear of crime used in this survey were superior to the previously used standard indicator.
