Projektbeschreibung
Since a deregulated financial market caused a global and also European crisis a renewed discussion about a “European Social Model” as a possible counterweight takes place throughout the member states. Although it’s still not clear how this could look like and either it could be desirable, in order to achieve this ambitious target social policy and social work play an important role. The conference will exemplarily present and analyze theories, strategies and methods of social policy and social work and discuss which efforts should and could be made to create such a model.
From a political point of view economical, juridical and managerial aspects have also an important impact on the European integration process. Will the emergence of a European Social Model obey the hidden mechanisms of the different part systems of modern societies? And will this – that’s another important topic under discussion - lead to a process of an increasing transnational convergence, diffusion and transfer in social Policy and social Work?
The conference will have main speaker, guests are invited to present their thesis in English and German speaking workshops. Also a view from outside at the social work in Europe will be taken. In which way does the profession in Asia or South America realize social work in Europe? Do we discuss differences within Europe which are seen only as facets of the same from the outside? Or do we praise the standardization of social policy and social work in Europe, although major differences are perceived from the outside?
