Dieses Projekt ist Teil des Forschungsprojektes Sustainable Management of River Oases along the Tarim River China (SuMaRiO)
Projektbeschreibung
The Tarim River can be divided into three sections. The upper reach, the delta of the middle reach with good abundance of Populus euphratica and the lower reach, mostly without water flow. An important objective would be to compare those three different sections in term of biodiversity in fish populations and macro invertebrate (MIV) communities in relation to the different ecological status and degradation of the sections. Additional limnological measurements (e.g chemical water analysis) would be appropriate.
The following questions should be focused:
• Historical data of fish biology and macro invertebrates on the Tarim River?
• What was the original aquatic biodiversity for fish and MIV in the Tarim?
• What is the recent aquatic biodiversity for fish and MIV in the Tarim?
• What are the major pressures and impacts for the change in aquatic biodiversity?
• Is there a longitudinal gradient in fish populations and MIV along the Tarim River?
• What is the natural reference status in fish diversity, fish community and MIV communities?
• What are the “aim species” of fish?
• Which species became extinct and endangered?
• What kind of fish species were/are caught for fishing in order to support indigenous people on the Tarim River?
• What are the functional groups of MIV (e.g. collectors, grazers, predators)?
• What is the effect of the riparian forest on the aquatic biodiversity (e.g. dead wood, shade, leaves, aquatic/semi aquatic habitat availability) and on the productivity (fish biomass, abundance) ?
• Finally what are the ecosystem functions and the ecosystem services of the aquatic system in the Tarim River basin ?
• How can the results be interlinked with SuMaRio WP 4.1.1, WP 4.1.2 and WP 4.1.3?
Fish fauna and MIV are standardized eligible bio components which are also used in monitoring programmes as biological indicators to assess the ecological status for the European Water Framework Directive (EU-WFD).
